Paper Airplane Challenge - May/June 2018
After folding paper airplanes as teams, the students tested their airplanes, and chose a final design. On flight day, each team got four throws and competed for the longest total flight of their best 3 throws! Students used mental math to find the total flights, since we added tape measures together. We learned about air flow, and even watched the World Record Paper airplane fly!
Longest Paper Chain Challenge - May 2018
As part of our measurement unit, we tried to find a way to make the longest paper chain using a single sheet of paper. We needed to collaborate with our friends to complete the task. After round 1, we looked over the other teams work to notice why theirs might be longer or shorter than our own, then planned to make our next chain better. We talked about why sometimes resources are limited and we must think outside the box. We had to do some mental math to find the total length since our chains were longer than one measuring tape. Great teamwork guys!
